Katherine’s family friend, Shawn Griffin, had moved to Vancouver years ago. They’d often ski together, especially during March break. Shawn posted a photo from the top of Cypress Mountain BC. Katherine could not stop staring at it, and received permission to create an oil painting with her interpretation. She loves that it was inspired by a moment in time where a skier pauses to take in the beauty of the serene landscape in front of them. It’s a gentle reminder that we must all stop and breathe and the peaceful colour palette Katherine used helps with this. Other aspects include Burrard Inlet in the background, breathtaking light at the top of the mountains, and peachy waters. Katherine knew she wanted to use a large canvas to really bring viewers in to the top of Cypress Mountain.

Framed in 'Michelangelo' espresso-coloured 2" wood frame.
